The Kiwi Maltese lass who once called the West coast shores of La Rochelle, France home for six years has recently returned to her homeland New Zealand and is putting pen to paper with soulful words that run deep.
Amber Rose Vito is a published author and co-food blogger for ‘The rugby pantry’ and wife of All Black rugby legend Victor Vito.

But like the change of seasons Ambers personal growth has now seen her shift into a new creative space as a writer. For Amber, it is not only a step towards finding her own inner peace and healing but sharing messages that resonate with so many of us as parents and women inspiring our own journies.
Amber’s latest piece is a timely reminder of the opportunities that can allow us some soul-searching, unearthing experiences and emotions that could be buried deep inside all of us to aid us on a journey of healing and growth.
We have followed Amber’s journey as the other half of Victor Vito while navigating the rugby life so graciously and five years on from her first guest feature we are thrilled to share her next chapter as a creative writer.
PEN TO PAPER by AMBER ROSE VITO
Healing involves healthy grieving
There’s just no way around it
The stage, the step
The inevitable sadness
Sometimes as we get better
As we change
As we heal
As we realize what we deserved as children
Young adults
The gap between that
And what we might of got
It’s where the healing trickles in
And the grief
As an adult
A fully fledged human
It’s ok to be sad
It’s ok to be angry
Even at those we love
Because we should always
Always Love ourselves most
And allow ourselves to feel deeply
To heal
Especially for her
The little girl I once was
Grief recognises our innocence
Our childhood
Where we had to hide
Certain emotions
Dimensions of our personality
But we are grown now
Fully bloomed
It’s safe to feel
The full spectrum of being human
And I will feel the sadness
And I will wade right in
Because I don’t want to be afraid
Not of my sons tears
His ability to access emotion so freely
I want to heal
So I can hold him
Resolute
Through any storm
That cascades down his face
Healing involves healthy grieving
And we all know how salt
Heals wounds
But you probably wouldn’t know
Not as much
How a mothers healing
Can heal generations
